Poker Rules

To start playing poker, you first have to understand the poker rules involved while playing. Each game has different rules, but most poker rules are the same. These poker rules are based off texas holdem. If you would like to learn about the poker bonus rules for other poker games, check out their individual pages; Seven Card Stud – Omaha. Make sure you know all the poker rules before starting to play.

As the poker begins, every poker player is dealt two cards face down. These are referred to as hole cards or pocket cards. Right after the hole cards are dealt, the first round of betting, or so-called pre-flop, starts with the player to the immediate left of the big blind, and continues clockwise. After all bets are called, all bets are placed into the pot. When the first betting round is completed, the dealer exposes the next three cards face up on the table. These three cards are called the "flop." The second round of betting begins with the immediate remaining player seated to the left of the Button and continues clockwise.

After all bets are called, poker bonus the dealer exposes the next card face up on the table. This card is called the "turn." The third round of betting again begins with the immediate remaining poker player seated to the left of the Button and continues clockwise.

After the third betting round is complete, the dealer exposes the next card face up on the table. This card is called the "river." The last round of betting again begins with the immediate remaining player seated to the left of the Button and continues clockwise. If more than one player remains after the fourth round of betting, there is a showdown; all players who remain in the game reveal their hands, poker bonus.

Generally, the poker player who made the initial bet, or the player who made the last raise, shows his poker hand first. The player with the highest-ranked hand wins the pot. It is possible to use both hole cards, one hole card, or no hole cards (play the board), in an effort to make a hand. If there is a tie for the highest ranking hand, the pot is split evenly. After the pot is pushed to the winner, the Button moves one player to the left, and the next hand starts.

Note that every round of betting requires players to act, starting with the first player to the left of the dealer who is still in the hand. That player may either check or bet. Then, each player to the left of the first player checks or bets, if no one betted. poker bonus, The first bet by any player is the opening bet. If a bet has been made, each player must fold, call, or raise. Once a player folds, he loses the chips that he has put into the pot and has given up his poker hand.

Poker Intros

Texas Holdem Poker

Available in limit, pot limit and no limit action, Texas Hold'em Poker is the game that our World Series main event champions (Tom McEvoy, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem and Joe Cada) were playing when they won the crown. By far the most popular game in today's poker world, we have hundreds of ring game tables running right now as well as hundreds of tournaments every week.

Omaha High Poker

Omaha is similar to Texas Hold’em poker in some ways, but the players receive four hole cards, and the hand must consist of exactly two cards from the player’s hole cards and exactly three cards from the board. ( In Texas Hold’em the hands can consist of any combination of board and hole cards.)

Omaha High is a popular variation of poker in Europe , especially in pot limit. PokerStars offers Omaha in both limit and pot limit for all of our players around the world.

Omaha Hi/Lo Poker

Omaha Hi/Lo, or Omaha Eight (played with an ‘ eight or better’ qualifier for low), is offered in limit, pot limit and no limit action.

Seven Card Stud Poker

Until the surge in popularity of Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud was the most popular poker game. You can still find plenty of options at the Seven Card Stud tables at PokerStars, available in a wide range of limits.

Razz (7 Card Stud Low)

If you think you can never make a hand, Razz is the game for you. This version of seven-card lowball allows you to shoot for the absolute worst five-card hand and still win.

HORSE & 8-Game Mix (Mixed games)

HORSE(Hold'em, Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Eight-or- Better) is the collection of games that allows you to prove how well-rounded a poker player you are. If you get bored playing one game all the time, try out HORSE to round out your skills. We also offer 8-Game Mix, which is the same rotation as HORSE, but also includes rounds of No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw, poker bonus.
